Our Board of 15 members includes five tenants (including one leaseholder). Board members have a three-year term of office and this year one of those tenant Board member positions is up for election.
The Board provides strategic direction for the company, ensures that its commitments under the Management Agreement are delivered, monitors the company’s performance and finances, and approves the policies of the organisation.
What skills and experience will you need?
You do not need any qualifications to be a tenant Board member. You do need enthusiasm, commitment and common sense, an ability to communicate well and to read and understand detailed information. You need to be able to attend and take part in Board meetings. Our full training programme will provide you with a range of knowledge and skills to help you in your role.
Contact us for a Nomination Form
If you are a secure tenant of Gloucester City Homes and you would like to be nominated to join the Board, you will need to complete a nomination form. These are available by request only, by contacting our Governance Team on 0800 408 2000. We will then send you a nomination form with a pre-paid envelope.
Your completed nomination must be supported by two people, who must be secure tenants or leaseholders of Gloucester City Homes. We will also ask you to answer six questions. Your answers will become your election statement.
The closing date for nominations is 5.30pm on 25th August 2011
You must return your completed nomination form to us in the pre-paid envelope provided by close of business on 25th August. If you wish to check that we have safely received your nomination, please telephone 0800 408 2000 and ask for Kath Campbell.
The Election
If we receive more than one valid nomination, there will be a postal vote to decide who will join the Board. We will announce the results of the election at our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 5th October 2011.
How long do Board members serve on the Board?
Board members normally serve for three years. A Board member elected in 2011 will be a Board member until the Annual General Meeting in 2014. Board members can resign during their term in office; this would result in the appointment of a replacement member for the remainder of the period that the original member of the Board had left to serve.
