Gloucester City Homes celebrates the opening of a new walkway at Metz Way
Mrs R Conie, a long-standing, well-respected, resident from Ullenwood Road was invited to officially open a new walkway between Coney Hill and Metz Way. Gloucester City Homes has created the new walk-though which enables residents to safely access the local bus stop.
Phil Thomas, Head of Tenancy Services said, "We had received feedback from residents of the area and those passing through the area, that the fenced area between Metz Way and Coney Hill was untidy and overgrown. In addition, people had broken down a section of the fence and created an informal thoroughfare. We saw this as an opportunity to improve the area, create a formal walkway and generally improve the area."
In partnership with Gloucester City Council and Enterprise (The City Council’s grounds maintenance contractor) Gloucester City Homes considered the options available and removed an extensive length of damaged chain link fencing and replaced it with new metal rail fencing.
To celebrate the occasion Gloucester City Homes put on a barbecue and a bouncy castle for the local residents and their children.
Becky Hayward, Neighbourhood Services Manager stated:
"It is lovely to be able to see such a valued improvement in this area. We have received positive comments from people who use Metz Way that they are impressed with the work that Gloucester City Homes have carried out"
