New opportunities for the community at Parry Hall

Working with the local community, Gloucester City Homes (GCH) is pleased to launch a number of exciting training opportunities through its Shine Learning Academy programme along with a range of other activities at Parry Hall, Tredworth.

Parry Hall has recently undergone a community makeover with support from GCH, in partnership with Lovell and Mitie which has enabled community groups and local residents make use of the hall to deliver a range of opportunities and events for  local people.

A range of exciting opportunities kicks off on Tuesday 14th August with the first of a series of courses designed to help residents save money by developing creative skills to give their home furnishings a makeover, revamp their wardrobe or plan healthy menus for the family – all on an affordable budget. All courses are being run in partnership with Adult Education.

Courses running next week are:

Tuesday 14th August – 10am to 12.30pm. Looking good on a budget – learn how to make fashion items using provided materials or redesign existing clothing.

Thursday 23rd August – 10am to 12.30pm – Introduction to jewellery making – learn how to recycle and update jewellery or make completely new items.

Both courses run for six weeks and are completely free of charge.

GCH Director of Housing and Organisational Development Anita Pope says:

"We are delighted to be able to help breathe some new life into Parry Hall by coordinating this initiative to enable local community groups to hold meetings and activities and also by providing these fantastic training opportunities through our Shine Learning Academy.”

Anyone interested in attending one of these courses or using the hall for community activities should contact Lyn Scudamore at GCH on 0800 408 2000 or 01452 424344.
