Gloucester City Homes (GCH) in partnership with Gloucester Police and Gloucester City Council’s Community Safety Partnership has set up a new service for tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the City of Gloucester.

Project Solace is a multi-agency team consisting of 2 Officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary and an ASB Officer from Gloucester City Council whose sole purpose is to tackle high level ASB and prevent incidents of ASB within the private sector of the City.

The team is managed under the expertise of GCH’s ASB Team and works alongside the Police Safer Communities Teams to provide a service for residents who are experiencing ASB caused by people who live in private rented properties, own their own homes or where ASB is not specifically linked to a property and an area instead.

Project Solace will work with local communities and partner agencies such as the Police, Environmental Health and support services to reduce ASB through providing a holistic, effective and swift service.

From the outset Project Solace will be focussed on and dedicated to increasing public confidence around reporting ASB and tackling it effectively through working jointly with partner agencies and by using all tools at their disposal.

The Project went live in June 2010 and will be promoted within the communities of Gloucester during the summer.

Chief Executive of Gloucester City Homes Ashley Green said:

“Project Solace demonstrates the commitment of all multi-agency partners to tackle ASB effectively where it exists in our communities. I believe that this ground breaking approach to resolving ASB will have a positive impact on Gloucester City and that by working with our communities effectively we can reduce incidents of ASB.”

Inspector Neil Smith of Gloucestershire Constabulary & Project Solace lead said:

“It has been a very challenging few months from the concept to the creation of Project Solace”

“I would like to thank all my officers involved in this Project and the ASB Team at Gloucester City Homes” I am extremely confident that Project SOLACE will succeed and hopefully we will be able to show some positive outcomes throughout the year”.

“ASB can and does ruin people’s lives, it has the most damming effect on local communities and as we have seen nationally it can lead to the most tragic events”

As key stakeholders in dealing with ASB we will strive to ensure that we enhance the wellbeing of our local communities. Identifying incidents, identifying patterns of behaviour, carrying out interventions and educating perpetrators are all activities that Project Solace will carry out on a daily basis.

A co-located dedicated team of highly specialised officers raises the standard of partnership working to levels that have not been seen in Gloucestershire before.

We will be publishing the terms of reference and how to contact Project Solace on both our websites - www.gloucestershire.police.uk|  and  www.gloscityhomes.co.uk|     This will allow our local community throughout Gloucester District to see exactly what Project Solace does and see what the team has achieved. and . This will allow our local community throughout Gloucester District to see exactly what Project Solace does and see what the team has achieved.
