Managing money
Help we can give you
We understand that difficulty paying your rent or service charge may be part of a wider problem. To help you, we work in partnership with other agencies to provide a full debt-counselling service. This includes:
Money lending
We work with the Illegal Money Lending Team to support its work against unlicensed money lending. If you need to borrow money, check that the loan company is registered with the Financial Services Authority before you sign an agreement.
We can also refer you to our local Credit Union who can help you save money and offer you a low cost loan.
The organisation provides savings accounts and affordable loans after a qualitying period. Please see the website and the leaflet for more information
Gloucestershire Credit Union is moving to the City Library, Brunswick Rd. During the interim period of moving offices collection points will be based here at Gloucester City Homes and on Saturdays at the Library.

Fighting food poverty
We are committed to building sustainable and healthy communities. We work with partner agencies to ensure that our residents can get advice and services to help improve quality of life.
Food poverty is becoming more common and we will support any action to ensure our residents don’t suffer from it.
With ever-rising food and fuel costs, it’s more important than ever to be able to make your money stretch further.
You could save money on your weekly shop by comparing the prices of 4 of the major supermarkets at www.mysupermarket.co.uk|
Gloucester Food Bank can provide temporary, emergency support if you can’t buy food. You can get food vouchers which you can exchange for a 3 day emergency food parcel, through care workers, social services or churches.
